The RBT model provides the opportunity to recline a patient while maintaining an optimum postrrre with the hips flexed. Backrest angle can be adjusted to meet the requirements of posture and comfort and the patient can he reclined a further 27 degrees using the tilt mechanism. The tilt
action is an important feature as it assists in the management of tone, head and trunk control, feeding and visual contact. Maintenance of the optimum seating position in the tilted position reduces the need for nurses to constantly reposition the patient; a situation which is common in
conventional equipment which extends the hips. This reduction in time would have a flow on effect on overheads. Maximum recline is achieved by using the full range of tilt and hack and angle adjustments.
